Ministry of Health: More than €80 million from the NRRP goes to newborn intensive care units. Beneficiary Guide published for consultation

The Ministry of Health announced on Tuesday that it has published the Beneficiary Guide and related annexes for public consultation under Component 12 – Health, Investment 2. Development of public hospital infrastructure, Specific investment 2.3. Intensive care units for newborns”.

The National Recovery and Resilience Plan ( NRRP) provides more than 80,000,000 Euros for investments in neonatal intensive care units and pre-hospital neonatal transport, the ministry’s press release said.

According to the source cited, 37,820,000 Euro are foreseen for projects aimed at expanding the capacity of the hospital infrastructure dedicated to the care of the critically ill neonatal patient with a minimum of 124 additional beds (Level III critical cases) – including adjacent infrastructure and related equipment, while 13,500,000 Euro can be accessed for the provision of medical equipment to the neonatal intensive care units and the improvement of the screening program.

Funds amounting to 21.600.000 Euro are made available to interested parties for projects aimed at building/upgrading and equipping 8 regional centers for the training of medical staff.

Also under this component, the Ministry of Health will carry out centralized procurement of €7.2 million for purchasing 12 mobile neonatal intensive care units (Level III) to be distributed by region.

The launch date of the call for projects is 30 September 2022.
