Judges of the Bucharest Court of Appeal have decided on the request for preventive arrest filed by DNA in the case of Niculae Bădălă. He was remanded in custody for 30 days, as confirmed in court minutes on Monday evening.
Judges of the Bucharest Court of Appeal will decide on Monday at 12 noon on the request for preventive arrest filed by DNA in the case of Niculae Bădălău, according to G4Media sources.
Former PSD baron Niculae Bădălău, detained Sunday evening by DNA in a corruption case, refused to give statements to prosecutors, judicial sources told G4Media.
According to the sources cited, prosecutors have video recordings of all of Bădălău’s discussions with his denouncer, Mayor Dan Pasat.
Bădălău, current vice-president of the Court of Accounts, was detained on Sunday evening after being heard at DNA in a corruption case. Prosecutors are investigating bribery and influence peddling.
In the case, prosecutors are investigating alleged lobbying for companies owned by his children.
In the same case, a natural person, a representative of a company, was also detained for the crime of complicity in bribery, according to DNA. Judicial sources told G4Media that the person in question is Elena Matache and the company in question is Samby Intex SRL, her son-in-law’s company.
