Study: Romanians no longer want to go back to the office, not even for more money
Romanians are not willing to give up their free time or the opportunity to work remotely, even for a better-paid job, and 77% of them want to change jobs in the next 12 months, according to a survey published last Thursday, Agerpres reports.
The majority (72.7%) would leave their current job for another job that pays the same but with the opportunity to work remotely, the results of the study conducted by Career Shift show.
„This information shows us that Romania is also aligned with the international trend called The Great Reshuffle, which indicates that the massive resignations of the last period will be accompanied by a similar number of rehires. At the same time, people’s values have changed. They place much more emphasis on work-life balance and flexibility in where they can work,” the research adds.
The survey took place from 9-12, online, free of charge, for people who wanted to clarify which career direction they want to take.
Career Refresh supported people’s intention to change jobs as we see a global trend of mass job resignation – The Great Resignation – post-pandemic.
Of the nearly 200 people who took part in the survey, 58.5% want to leave their current job because they want to grow in their careers, 56.8% want a more meaningful job and 47.2% do not feel motivated in their current job. At the same time, 32% have felt very stressed at work in the last six months, and 69.3% have no clear direction for changing their job because they don’t know exactly what they want or how they could get where they dream of going.
The survey also found that 72.7% of people would leave their current job for another job that pays the same but with the opportunity to work from home. This highlights the fact that in the pandemic, people have realized that they can also be effective by working from places other than the office. The benefits of going to another workplace are: a more pleasant working environment, the ability to work from anywhere, and more free time.
Of those surveyed, 67.6% feel they lack the courage to take the step towards a career change, 61.9% say they lack clarity, and 43.8% – financial security.
„In the current economic climate these intentions are all the more worrying. They show an increased level of chronic fatigue, stress and instability. At the same time experts argue that investing in one’s own career and skill level is the best way to look at the current level of inflation,” said Mihai Zant, co-founder of Career Shift.
